Harold Oliver Sprehe

Harold Oliver Sprehe was born on January 18, 1929, in New Minden, IL to Regina (Going) Sprehe and Harry J. Sprehe. He passed away February 27, 2025, in Springfield Illinois at the age of 96 years,1 month and 9 nine days.

Harold graduated from Okawville Illinois High School in 1947. After graduation, he worked on the farm and in a shoe factory. He entered the US Army as a medic in Germany. After his discharge, he returned to Okawville to begin his traffic manager career with Pfizer Pigments in E. St. Louis, IL where he retired with over 30 years of service.

He married his high school sweetheart Esther Brockmeier on August 22, 1954 after serving in the Army. Harold enjoyed playing ping- pong and playing pinochle cards with friends. He was very proud of his wife and family. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran in Belleville, IL where he enjoyed attending services and being a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Alwin Sprehe and sister Arline (Sprehe) Ahrens, and brothers in law Norman, Elmer and Wilmer Brockmeier. He is survived by his children, Mark Allen Sprehe and his wife Julia Sprehe of Springfield, IL., 2 grandchildren, Mark William Sprehe and Rebekah Sprehe, Springfield, IL and daughter Dr. Janet Sprehe and her husband Michael Fleiss of Lutz, FL and sister in laws Muriel Brockmeier of Mascoutah, Il and Priscilla Sprehe of Meza, AZ, and brother in law, Willis Aherns of Centralia, IL. He has several nieces and nephews.

Private Family Services will be held with interment in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
