
Harvey L Turner, 94, a lifelong resident of Springfield passed away at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday August 21, 2001 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born April 29, 1907 in Springfield the son of Harvey E. and Thursie Stinnett Turner. He Married Frances C. Boehmer on September 26, 1939 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Mr. Turner served in the United States Army from 1942-1945.He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, The American Legion and The Pillsbury 25 Year Club. He worked for Pillsbury Mills for 40 years retiring in 1972. He was a Doorman for the Illinois State Senate from 1972-1990. He was a professional baseball umpire and a high school and college basketball official for 35 years. He coached amateur baseball teams from little league through Connie Mack and he was inducted into the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame in March of 2001. He was preceded in death by, his Parents, brothers Marvin and Lawrence Turner, and one sister Lotus Sommer. He is survived by his Wife of 61 years, Frances C. Turner of Springfield, Son Harvey L. (Wife Barbara) Turner of Edina, MN. Three Grandchildren: James “Jim” (Wife Donna) Turner of Savage, MN. Amy (Husband, Ensign Cory) Hess of Meridian, MS., and Robert Turner of Edina, MN. One sister Lois Reazer of Springfield. Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home From 2-4:00 p.m. Sunday August 26, 2001.
