Helen Margaret Jordan

Helen Margaret Jordan, 87, of Springfield, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014, at St. John's Hospital. Helen was born on July 6, 1926, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Ira and Mary (Boyer) Cherry. Helen graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport, IA. She went on to work for Memorial Medical Center in Springfield for many years until she retired in 1987. Helen was a member of Jerome United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, and was an avid fan of Illini Basketball.

Surviving Helen is her daughter Jan Ekstrand, and her grandchildren; Ben Shafer and Emily Shafer all of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter Sue Shafer.

The family will receive guests from 5-7 pm on Friday, February 21, 2014, at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S Koke Mill Rd Springfield, IL 62711.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Sara Isbell will be on Saturday February 22, 2014, at 11 am at the funeral home.

Following services cremation rites will be accorded.
