Helen Rhodes Leverton

Helen Rhodes Leverton, 66, of Springfield, was called home by our Lord, at 4:33 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at St. Johns Hospital. Helen was born September 18, 1952 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Jerry and Fannie Jewell Rhodes. She married Richard Leverton on December 1, 1973 at Spring Hill Church. Helen was a graduate of St. Elmo High School. She retired from SIU School of Medicine after more than 20 years. She enjoyed needlepoint, scrapbooking, and making greeting cards. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jimmy Rhodes; mother and father-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a sister-in-law. She is survived by her husband, Richard Leverton of Springfield; two daughters, Dawn (Bob) Vicari of Springfield and Amanda (Scott) Lahr of Taylorville; two grandchildren, William Lahr and Brody Kiesow; step-grandchildren, Brett and Valerie Vicari; step-great-grandchildren, Karson; sister, Jane Rhodes of Concordia, MO; two brothers, Jerry (Rhonda) Rhodes of Beecher City, IL and Dean (Cindy) Rhodes of St. Clair, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2750 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Samuel Janssen officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
