Helen K. Newhouse

Helen K. Newhouse, 72, of Palmyra, died at 9:36 a.m. Sunday, March 28, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center. Mrs. Newhouse was born May 17, 1931 in Silver Lake, IN, the daughter of Jesse F. and Doris Young Lynch. She married Charles M. Newhouse on July 24, 1949 and he preceded her in death on September 28, 1993. Helen was a graduate of Laketon High School in North Manchester, IN. She owned and operated Helen’s Flowers and Gift Shop in Rochester retiring in 1993 after 25 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Alan Wayne Newhouse; sister, Artella Bechtelheimer; and brothers, Harold and Charles Lynch. She is survived by one son: Mark (wife, Barbara) Newhouse of Girard; one daughter, Cathy L. Diefenbach (husband, Lester) of Benbrook, TX; three grandchildren: Jessie, Amy and Maggie, two great grandchildren: Kohl and Ivy, sister, Nancy Kerlin (husband, Richard) of Silver Lake, IN; and brother, Rex Lynch (wife, Mary) of Claypool, IN. Memorial services will be at Blooming Grove Christian Church, Palmyra, IL on Thursday, April 1, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. with Fred Hansen officiating. Burial will be at South Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery in Silver Lake, IN at a later date. The family of Helen K. Newhouse is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
