Helen Elizabeth Smith

She was born February 24, 1922 in Christian County the daughter of Guy W. and Minnie Mae Miller, Helen was one of seven children. Three brothers, Darryl, LeRoy and Guy W. Miller and two sisters, Mary L. Berry and Delores Hickman preceded her in death. She married Paul L. Smith

March 9, 1939 in Bowling Green, Mo. And he preceded her in death in 2006. Together they welcomed several relatives and friends into their home, living with then in their time of need.

Helen retired from Sangamo Electric Company. She loved to play cards, bingo and gamble.

Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Diana L. Hester (husband,William) of Springfield; son, Paul James Smith (wife, Donna) of Leesburg, FL.; sister, Eileen Moore Patterson; Grandchildren, Debra Lynn Claypool (husband, Terry) of Tallula, Kimberli Ann Nolen (husband, Brent) of Springfield, James A. Smith (wife, Rhonda) of Pawnee, Dr. Jamie L. Ikeda (husband, Steve) of Windermere, FL.; ten great grandchildren, Shannon Reid of Springfield, Alix and Paige Claypool of Tallula, Trent and Amanda Nolen of Springfield, Evan and Ryan Smith of Pawnee and Megan, Olivia and Lauren Ikeda of Windemere, FL. and several nieces and nephews.

Helen’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank the administration and staff of Sunny Acres Home for the loving care given Helen during her years with them.

Friends may call Monday Mar. 5, 2012 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel from 9:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Monday Mar 5, 2012 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.(www.boardman-smith.net) .
