Hong Le

Hong Le, M.D., 73 of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at St. John’s Hospital. He was born on October 1, 1942, in Vietnam to Bo Quang Le and Ngoc Thi Nguyen. Dr. Le married Hien Le on April 27, 1966, in Saigon, Vietnam, and she preceded him in death on April 24, 2004.

He is survived by his son (Nhan Le of Springfield), daughter and son-in-law (Thuong and John Jongky of Normal, IL), and two grandsons (Joshua and Jacob Jongky).

Dr. Le was an eye surgeon in Vietnam in the 1970’s prior to immigrating to the U.S., and he retired as a physician with Alton Mental Health Center. He loved to read classical literature, watch tennis, and travel, which included a cruise to Europe. Dr. Le spoiled his two grandsons at every opportunity, and he enjoyed watching them play soccer.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Monday January 4, 2015, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 9:30 am until the time of mass on Monday at the Cathedral.
