Howard Eugene Welling

He was born on June 8, 1948, in Greene County, PA, the son of Daniel and Pearl (Beatty) Welling.

Howard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was first employed at the Fiat Allis and then with the Illinois Department of Revenue, retiring in 2010. Howard enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, playing pool, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Pierce; brother, Carroll; and sisters, Merle, Mary, Patsy, and Bonnie.

Howard is survived by his daughter, Jodi (Rodney) McBride of Springfield; stepdaughter, Julie Krouse; grandchildren, Bryce (Sarah) McBride of Springfield, Jarod McBride of Jacksonville, Brayden and Kaylea McBride, both of Springfield, Brooke (Jake) Kniery and Paige (Colin) Gaffney, both of Chatham, and Allissa Krouse-Shafer of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Truee McBride, Everleigh Kniery, Palmer and Piper Gaffney, And Alarah and Annehlis Kniery; close friend, Sandra Welling; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Ceremony: 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Roselawn Memorial Park, with Pastor Clint Cook officiating. Military honors will be provided.
