Ilene was born on July 26, 1940, in Ridgway, IL, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Berkel) Collins. Ilene married Thomas Golden, Sr. on August 28, 1958, in Ridgway. He preceded her in death, on July 19, 2003.
Ilene graduated from Ridgway High School. She was a former member of Christ the King Catholic Church and later a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. Ilene was a homemaker until her children were grown, and later worked for Charles Robbins Realtor in 1980. Ilene was an avid gardener, and was the first Popcorn Queen in 1958 in Ridgway. She was also known as Momo by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; daughter, Alynda Crossin; two brothers, John and Jimmy; and many beloved dogs and grand-dogs.
Ilene is survived by her daughter, Lori (Dave) Robinson; sons, Tom “TE” (Vicky) Golden of Chatham, and Greg (Lily) Golden of Louisiana; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and siblings, Mary Jane “Sis” Harris and Freddie Collins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
A private burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
