Ivanetta Johnson

She ws born on March 24, 1947 in Muskogee, OK, the daughter of the late Ivan J. and Myriel Lean (Phifer) Johnson. She married Edward Cabbell and they later divorced.

Ms. Johnson graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis, MN. She obtained her CNA Certificate in 1989 in Springfield IL. She was employed by several nursing homes throughout the community and also worked as a caregiver at Hope School in Springfield. She was a member of Faith Temple AME Church in Springfield.

She is survived by a daughter Danette Cabbell-Akins of Decatur, IL; a son Daniel Cabbell of Springfield; 5 grandchildren, Ashley James, Sparkle Cabbell, Bradley Jones, Daniel Jones, and Raymond McCray; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dorothy Ware of Louisville, KY, Victoria Johnson and Ola Marie (Lee) Leddell, both of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Benjamin Johnson.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 from 12 pm until time of the funeral service at 1 pm at Faith Temple AME Church, 901 S. 23rd St. Springfield. Cremation rites will follow.
