

Jack A. Brown, 83, of Springfield, died at 11:35 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2016 at St. John's Hospice. Jack was born February 18, 1933 in Tovey, IL, the son of Louis and Jessie Davis Brown. He married Dorothy Bollitto on March 29, 1980 in Springfield, IL. Jack graduated from Kincaid High School in 1951 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 1955 as a tail gunner on B-29s and air refueling on KC97s. He was employed as a carpenter for most of his adult life. He also worked for the fire department at the IL State Fairgrounds and for various state agencies as a stationary engineer, until his retirement in 1991. Jack was a member of the Springfield and Sangamon County Rescue Squad for 14 years and retired as Chief in 1974. He enjoyed playing golf and spending quality time with his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen Seman. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; several nieces and nephews, including Jack (Teresa) Hanlon of Tovey, IL, John Talbert of Chicago, IL, and Chris Talbert of Ocoee, FL; and his beloved dog, Lilly. Private family graveside ceremony was held at Virden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
