Dear Kay, Lee and Christy, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather to your children. Though life has a way of moving on ... faster than we wish at times ... I fondly remember my time as a member of the Downs family. Those "early days" in Carbondale, boating on the lake, Beach Boys concerts, good 'ol fashioned fun in the sun with the kids. They continued long into your move to Springfield, memories after memories. I hold them all dear. Being part of all the Downs kids growing up will always be some of my most special times. Lee and Christy, losing a parent is one of the toughest. They are the ones who bring us into the world, raise us with the right values, and they're always there for us. When it's their time to go to heaven, they become our guardian angels, watching over us with the confidence that we will grieve, yes, then continue to grow, evolve as adults and become to our children what they were to us. May God Bless Jack ... God Bless you all.

John and I first met Kay and Jack (and Lee, Christy we met you a few years later) at SIU, we became fast friends. We had such good times- basketball games, hanging out together and sharing our lives- Salukies stick together! A friend is forever in your heart, you will forever be in mine, so many memories, so much laughter and joy the four of us shared. God speed Jack, you are loved by so many.
