

He was born in Eldorado, IL on May 29, 1949, the son of Mitchell and Thelma (Miner) Kanady. Jack married Ronda Fraser in Springfield, IL on May 13, 1993.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and subsequently with the Air National Guard for 20 years before retiring as Chief Master Sargeant. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University, master’s degree from Sangamon State University, and Doctoral degree from Southern Illinois University. Jack’s professional career was with the University of Illinois- Chicago, Division of Specialized Services for Children in Springfield, IL. He was a member of Sangamo Club, Springfield Veterans Center, and a board member for United Cerebral Palsy for several years. Jack enjoyed staying active at YMCA, walking the mall in the mornings, bicycling, and enjoying time with friends and family. His laugh will be remembered.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Mary Jo Kanady; and stepson, Kevin Wisleder.
He is survived by his wife, Ronda; daughters, Jennifer (Mark Seeger) Kanady and Ruth (Daniel) Perez; stepson, Deric Wisleder; grandchildren, Ian and Eli Perez, Carlissa Easton, and Calen Sisk; brother, James (Mary) Kanady; niece, Karilyn (Mathew) Whalen and their children, Otis and Oliver Whalen; nephew, Michael (Robin) Kanady and their children, Mitchell and Kelsey Kanady.
Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Department of Defense and Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Immediately following there will be a reception at Springfield Veterans Center.
