
Jack Spring, 65, of Springfield, died at 2:18 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital. Jack was born on March 9, 1938 in Springfield, IL, son of Albert and Hester Summerfield Spring. He married Dee Jones on July 9, 1983 in Springfield. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois at Springfield and played wheelchair basketball with the Springfield Spoke Jockeys for 25 years. Mr. Spring worked as an insurance underwriter for Horace Mann Insurance Company for 40 years retiring in 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert E. Spring, an infant sister and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife, Dee of Springfield; son, Michael (wife, Jodi) Biggs of Loami; daughter, Teresa (husband, Chuck) Ransom of Mason City; three grandchildren: Matt and Luke Becker and Hunter Ransom; two sisters; Sharyl (husband, John) Stevens of Carmel, IN and Jo Roderick of Springfield; eight nieces and nephews and several cousins. Friends may call from 4 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with the Rev. Msgr. Patrick J. Wright, VF officiating.
