She was born July 13, 1940, in Quincy, IL, to the late William Snider Rickman and Charlotte Katherine Allen Rickman. She married James William Bordewick on September 11, 1965, in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2002.
Jacqueline was a 1958 graduate of Quincy High School and attended Quincy College in Quincy, IL, and Park College in Parkville, MO, majoring in business. She co-owned The Drapery Shoppe in Springfield for many years, designing and creating beautiful custom draperies and other design accents for both residential and commercial properties.
Jacqueline enjoyed countless hours working in her yard over the years, and her beautiful flower beds reflected her talent for both design and color. She loved to sit in her yard and watch the birds and small wildlife that would visit there. Jacqueline, who could never stand to let anything go to waste, created many patchwork quilts from discontinued fabric sample books, and some of those quilts kept her warm and comfortable in her final months of life. The rest have loving homes with their recipients scattered across the country. She was also a long-time volunteer for the Animal Protective League, spending many Saturdays volunteering at off-site cat adoptions for the shelter.
Jacqueline was also preceded in death by her parents, William & Charlotte Rickman.
Jacqueline is survived by her daughter, Lynn Cawley, of Springfield, IL; son, Jon Bordewick of Springfield, IL; grandson, Jeremy Bordewick of Epping, ND; beloved great-granddaughter, Nella Bordewick of Epping, ND; and her cat, Minx.
She also leaves behind extended family members and a small but mighty circle of friends from all areas of her life who will miss her.
