Jaime S. Francis January 11,1960 - June 2, 2020

Jaime received a call on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 that her work here was done. She was a beautiful woman inside and out who we feel led a blessed existence and for this we are grateful. After she lost Byron, the love of her life since high school, she decided to be joyful and have a full life instead of letting it pull her completely down. She proceeded to live life to the fullest and loved with her whole being.

During her time here with her family and friends, she traveled to wonderful places, enjoyed socializing, dancing, gardening, jewelry making, and reading to her heart’s content. Music, laughter, and love were guaranteed whenever you were in her presence. What brought her the most joy though were her grandchildren. She cherished her time with them and always looked forward to their visits.

You never left her house hungry or lacking conversation. Her home, that Byron and she built, was her most cherished possession. It was her sanctuary and she diligently worked to take care of it for all to enjoy. She treated anyone she met as family and welcomed them into her home and life with open arms. Her smile lit up the room and her laugh was contagious.

Jaime was born on January 11, 1960 in Springfield to Ralph George Kornfeld and Carol Joann Carrico who are no longer with us. She married her high school sweetheart Byron Francis on October 13, 1979 also in Springfield. Byron sadly left her on December 15, 2016.

Jaime left behind many family members she loved to continue her legacy here. She is survived by her two daughters: Rachael (Jason Spencer) Francis of Glenarm and Emily (Clayton Volle) Francis of Springfield, three grandchildren: Shelby and Owen Spencer and Isabella Schmidt and siblings: Jeff Kornfeld, Jill (Howie) Pillsbury, Jennifer Kornfeld, Chris (Kendra) Kornfeld and Josh Kornfeld. She also left behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jaime’s career as an accountant and former tax supervisor at Sikich LLC and former manager at Clifford Gunderson kept her busy as she had a flare with numbers. Most of her adult life she spent being a fitness instructor, this passion led her to Aerobics by Jill. Later in life she joined the Springfield Ski and Travel Club which enabled her to travel abroad and meet so many wonderful people. She also had volunteered for the Route 66 Festival.

Those who wish to gather and celebrate Jaime are welcome to raise a glass and share a story with friends and family at Brookhills Golf Club patio on June 14 beginning at 3:00pm. Access to patio is available from either side of the club house. Restrooms will be available. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.

Jaime, it has been about three week since you left us. Still wondering why. I figured you just wanted to get together Byron again, since you missed the love of your life. I truly enjoyed our friendship and felt that you did a wonderful job as VP of day trips for the Ski & Travel Club. You were so doggone easy to work with and always so pleasant. When I see you next in heaven, I will bring two extra cigars. One for Byron, and one for you. Thank you for being you!

Sounds as though Jaime had a full and fulfilled life. I ask God to bestow His many graces and blessings upon the Kornfeld/Francis families to give all renewed strength, hope, and peace amidst your sorrow.

Sending prayers and thoughts to all the Kornfeld family. I am a daily Facebook user too and I sure miss seeing her funny, music, and general posts. It was also nice to run into her at the CTK grade school reunion a few years ago. We are both part of the Class of SHA 78’ and so Very sad to hear this. She sure touched many lives. I hope that all these prayers and thoughts from everyone help you through this difficult time.

Oh sweet Jaime, you brought sunshine into my life when you became my spa client many years ago. Our bond was immediate, a friendship formed. Since then I have always cherished your gentle manner, your beautiful smile and your infectious laugh. I loved your wit and unexpected comments on Facebook which always drew a comment from me. We were always on the same page if you know what I mean. 😍 Shortly after I learned of your passing, I was sitting at my kitchen table crying and praying. I looked out my sliding glass doors and there was a beautiful red Cardinal and that Cardinal stayed on my patio table for close to two minutes. ❤️ I know it was you Jaime reminding me that you are happy and now with Byron. We were supposed to go to lunch week after next. Rest In Peace my dear friend. You will be missed. 💗

24 of us, Jaime included, took a trip to Turks and Caicos. Leaving out of Springfield in January, we had the snowfall to beat all snow falls. If we were going to make it there, we would have to leave from Chicago. Everyone was pretty exhausted by the time we took a train up there. Amtrak gave us. a car all to ourselves. Well, talk about making lemonade out of lemons! I swear, we danced the entire 3 and 1/2 hours up there. It is one of my Fondest Memories of that entire trip. When I think of Jamie, I will think of that, because she was right there in the middle of it all. She was a very nice lady with a great sense of humor! I told her I would be her agent, schedule a bunch of gigs. She would be on stage and the both of us would get filthy rich! She will be sorely missed! Rest in peace, Jaime. There will come a day.

Jaime was a wonderful friend. I moved away from Illinois after high school, so I rarely saw her after our youth, but the few times I did, she always made me feel special. She had a way of doing that with anyone. I’m grateful for social media so I could share part of her life these past few years. Jaime truly cared about others.

I lived next door to the Kornfelds from my 7th grade year through 9th grade. I still saw Jaime frequently through high school though, because I went to Sacred Heart Academy with her. My memories of Jaime as a friend and neighbor were often of her playing her guitar, singing, dancing, and being joyful. She loved her beautiful family. She loved summer, swimming, and the annual family beach Vacations.

Jaime was beautiful, popular, sweet, smart, talented, caring, and so much more. Her passing is such a loss to so many people, especially you, her loving family. Her life was a blessing to countless people. She stood up for the less fortunate. She was a fierce friend, an amazing sister, a precious daughter. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was so resilient, even after losing the love of her life, Byron, so suddenly. While dealing with her tremendous sadness, she carried on and was an example to others who were suffering.

Jaime will be so very missed by myself and dozens of others. I can’t begin to tell you how sad and sorry I am for your tremendous loss. The reason it hurts so much is because she was loved so much. She was a beautiful soul, and my life is so much richer for having had her in it. God bless always.

I will always hold and cherish many beautiful memories we had together. This is a picture of her in Turks and Caicos joining in with the entertainment. Lots of laughs. I will miss you my friend.

We were so sad to hear of Jaime's passing. She was a lovely, beautiful and fun loving person. We were lucky enough to spend time with her in Florida. Our love goes out to her family and friends who will miss her dearly. We are happy to think of her reunited with Byron the love of her life.
