
James Edward Bauman, 72, of Springfield, died at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. James was born August 29, 1945 in Cooksville, the son of Archie F. and Regina Feit Bauman. He married Nancy J. McLaughlin. James graduated from Octavia High School in Colfax, IL, class of 1963. He earned a bachelors degree from Illinois State University. He worked for Springfield Public Schools for 34 years. He loved watching his students grow into productive members of society and earned runner-up for Teacher of the Year in 1997. James was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, traveling, caring for his dogs, and was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan. James was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Shirley Miller. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bauman of Springfield; sons, Lance (Yasmine) Bauman and Marc Bauman, both of Springfield; grandchild, Tristyn Bauman; and siblings, Patricia Norton of Cooksville, Betty (Bud) Wolfe of Springfield, Julie (Gary) Swango of Normal; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with Rev. Robert J. Jallas, celebrant. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
