Born November 25, 1945, in Eldorado, IL, he was the son of James and Marydell (Brann) Berry.
Mike graduated from Lanphier High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Sangamon State University. He briefly served in the U.S. Army and went on to work more than 35 years as a project manager with the Illinois Department of Transportation. A lifelong supporter of Scouting, Mike was an Eagle Scout and received numerous honors, including the Silver Beaver Award, Vigil Honor, and Founders Award. He served as a longtime Associate Lodge Adviser and directed many Scouting programs. He was also a recipient of both Cub Scout and Boy Scout Wood Badge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina; sons, Kevin and Jeff; and daughter-in-law, Mary (Shaw).
He is survived by his son, Shawn; grandson, Lucas; and siblings, Robert “Bob” Berry and Janet “Jan” (Berry) Quoss.
Visitation will be held from 10:00–11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield, IL 62704 followed by a graveside service at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Celebrant Judy Woerner.
