

James "Jim" Michael Bryant, 87, of Springfield, passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Sunrise Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Virden, Illinois. Jim was born February 7, 1929 in Gibson City, Illinois, the son of William C. and Sara M. Bryant. He married Linda M. Bell on March 27, 1971 in Lake Worth, Florida. Jim graduated from Drummer Township High School in Gibson City, Illinois. He then went on to serve in the United States Army as a clerk at an Army hospital in Germany after World War II from 1946 to 1949 obtaining the rank of Sergeant. After his service, Jim attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa earning a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy. Jim worked as a pharmacist for many years in many communities in Illinois, Florida, and Michigan. In his later years, Jim enjoyed spending time with Linda and his Lhasa Apso, Gracie. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William "Bill" Bryant and Robert "Bob" Bryant. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda; their son, William (wife, Christine Trinidad) Bryant of Springfield, Illinois; his daughter, Penny (husband, Mark) Dietzen of Florida; sons, Michael Bryant of Florida, Daniel (wife, Larisa) Bryant of Texas, Timothy (wife, Yvonne) Bryant of Texas; and his first wife Florence. Jim is also survived by eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
