James "Buzz" P. Smith

James "Buzz" Smith, 49, of Springfield died at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2008. Buzz was born December 7, 1958 in Springfield, the son of Clyde J. and Marian Stevens Smith. He married Brenda Best on June 3, 1981. Buzz was a graduate of Chatham Glenwood High School and was employed as a meter reader for City Water Light & Power and a member of Electrical Union #193. He was a member of Church of the Little Flower and Knights of Columbus Council #4179. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming, water skiing, softball and biking. He was preceded in death by his mother; and one brother: Michael Smith in 2004. He is survived by his father Clyde J. Smith of Ft. Meyers, FL; wife: Brenda Smith of Springfield; two sons and one daughter: Kurt, Chad and Katie Jo Smith all of Springfield; one brother: Clyde "Jay"(Cheri) Smith; three sisters: Barb (Thomas) Alexander and Suzanne Link of Springfield, and Kristen (Rick) Walbert of Rochester; sister-in-law: Kris Smith of Springfield; God-daughter: Kirston Warren; several aunts, nieces nephews and cousins; and hunting dog: Mossy Oak. Family will receive friends from 12:00 - 2:45 p.m. until the time of funeral ceremonies at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
