James F. Coady

James F. Coady, 86, of Springfield, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at his residence. James was born January 7, 1929 in Lincoln, the son of Joseph T. and Theresa (Lee) Coady. He married Dorothy J. Kervin on July 17, 1954 in Springfield. James was owner and operator of J.F. Coady Company from 1969-1996. He was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and was a past chairman of their Long Range Planning Committee. James was an active member of the community with the Knights of Columbus #364, Illini Country Club, Island Bay Yacht Club, former Catholic Charities Treasurer, KIARA Board Member, and a longtime advocate of St. John's Breadline. James proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William (wife, Jean) and Robert Coady. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. "Dodie" Coady of Springfield; his seven children, Colleen (husband, George) Reisz of Prairie Village, KS, Jeffrey (wife, Trish) Coady of Springfield, Caren (husband, Dan) Zentgraf of Springfield, Greg (wife, Helena) Coady of Overland Park, KS, Stephen (wife, Michelle) Coady of Springfield, Kevin (wife, Lori) Coady of Franklin, TN, and Kelly (husband, Jim) Kallenberger of Lawrence, KS; twenty-one grandchildren, Samuel and Peter Reisz, Kyle (wife, Leah) Coady, Katelyn and Conner Coady, Derek (wife, Angie), Amy, and Dane Zentgraf, Lauren Ashley (husband, Ryan) Murphy, Camille (husband, Sean) Campbell, Jarrod, Nicolas, Scout, Savannah, Satchel, Alexandria "Ally", James, and Caroline Coady, Paige, Ethan, and John "Jack" Kallenberger; five great-grandchildren, Reese and Sadie Murphy, Mckenzie and Dylan Zentgraf, and Molly Coady; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 South Walnut St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
