

He was born in Springfield on January 2, 1936, the son of Joseph M. and Rose C. (Wilson) Eddington.
James was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army. A graduate of Cathedral Catholic High School, he channeled his strong work ethic into becoming a self-taught building contractor and independent business owner. More than anything, James loved his family. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be remembered for his gentle heart toward children and animals, and his steadfast devotion to the Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and eight siblings.
James is survived by his ex-wife, Doris Helen (Valatkas) Eddington; daughters, Carol Jo (Eddington) Disney and Mary Agnes (Edward) Eddington-Hrubec; son, James Leon Eddington, Jr.; several grandchildren; sister, Sister Trinity; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial: 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
