He was born on September 19, 1953, in Springfield, to the late Robert and Betty Cour. He was also preceded in death by his brother, William (Bill).
Jim graduated from St. James Trade School and was a gifted baker and basketball player. Every Christmas he shared his talent of baking by making his mom’s famous nutrolls.
On August 31, 1973, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Jamie Langfelder. Together they raised three sons. Jim worked for the City of Springfield, Department of Public Works, for 32 years, retiring in 2004.
Jim was a member of St. Agnes Parish and enjoyed coaching basketball for his sons and nieces. He was, also, a “Jack of all Trades” when it came to home improvement, learning from his Dad and Uncle Bobby. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Jim’s many travels to Florida with family are cherished memories and in retirement, he enjoyed camping and traveling in his RV, especially to National Parks.
To carry on his memory are his wife, Jamie; his sons and family, James, Maggie and grandson, Benjamin of Brimfield, Nicholas Cour and Samantha Mizeur of Springfield, Jonathan, Kate and grandsons, Hudson and Ossie of Grand Rapids, MI; his nephew, Bill Cour, who was like his fourth son; sisters, Mary Sue (Mike) Adams and Bernadette (Roland) Marr; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Jim loved his wife, children, and especially his grandsons, as well as all the shenanigans that the Cour boys provided.
