

James was born on June 12, 1937, in Springfield, the son of Edward W. and Josephine M. Halbrook McCann. He married Marianne Elizabeth on November 5, 1977; she preceded him in death on November 20, 2016.
James graduated from Lanphier High School, class of 1955. He worked for Bunn-O-Matic and retired from Capital Plumbing in 1997. James was a member of the Gideons. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, refinishing furniture, fast pitch softball, singing, and watching the Chicago Cubs.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Suzanne Skeeters; and several siblings.
He is survived by his sons, James (Dottie) McCann of Virden, Bill (Diane) Burlison of Greenview and Matthew (Kim) Burlison of Lincoln; daughters, Beth (Chris) Bordignon of Chatham, Linda Burlison of Springfield, Becky Caldwell of Springfield, and Joanne Turley of Rochester; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:00 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Avenue West, Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.
