James M. McMann

James M. McMann, 87, of Springfield, died at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center. James was born May 19, 1926 in Shreveport, LA, the son of James Marion and Jessie Evans McMann. He married Mary M. Hibbs on June 6, 1958 in Springfield. James graduated from Centralia High School and earned his Associate's degree from Centralia Junior College. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was employed as a finance manager for 30 years with Associates Finance and then for 15 years with Springfield Tractor and Trailer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and volunteered as a red coat at Memorial Medical Center for 15 years. He was a member of the 38 Club for 30 years and the SHG Athletic Booster Club for 30 years. He loved harness racing, Clydesdales, gardening, but most importantly attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Kevin Moore; and sister, Kathleen Bryant. He is survived by his wife, Mary of Springfield; his children, Patty McMann, Barbara Moore, and Kathy (husband, Kent) Blake, all of Chatham, and Jim (wife, Mindy) McMann of Springfield; thirteen grandchildren, Kristin (husband, Doug) Drendel, Taylor Blake, Whitney McMann, Andy (wife, Julie) Moore, Daniel, Jason, and Ryan Moore, and J.T., Caden, Hudson, Ainsley, and Cora McMann; and three great-grandchildren, Kevin, Ella, and Harper Moore. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Dennis Kollross, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military honors provided by Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
