

He was born in Hardin County on November 23, 1933, the son of Samuel and Lillian (Reed) Moore. JE married Geneva Sisco in Elizabethtown on July 4, 1953.
JE served in the military and later worked as a supervisor for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He especially loved traveling with Geneva and making new memories. JE had a lifelong passion for the open road and rode his motorcycle with pride up until last year. He was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed building things, and even crafted his own trike.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Geneva; daughter, Sandy Ashby; and sister, Shirley Taber.
JE is survived by his children, Marcia (Joe) Hopper of Homer, James “Jim” (Debbie) Moore of Riverton, and Russell (Jo) Moore of Riverton; grandchildren, Brian (Sherry) and Doug Ashby, Joie (Matt) Sarver, Cale (Lauren) and Jill Hopper, Beth (Jimmy) Turley, Katie (Craig) Moore, Anna Lyons, JD (Danielle) and Gottlieb (Hillary) Moore, Joseph (Megan) Watson, Tiffany (Kris) Shicker, Russell and Sam (Jill) Moore, Kayla (Jake) Taapken, Allie (Chris) Drew, and Johnny (Payton) Sirtout; great-grandchildren, Orion (Brandie), Peyton, and Lilly Sarver, Addi, and Emmi Hopper, Huck and Wyatt Turley, Kaylan and Kinlee Moore, Casen and Beau Lyons, Josey and Hudson Moore, Jaxson Nelson, Madilyn and Lillian Moore, Andrew, Hailey, Alex, Asher, Harper, and Hadley Watson, Kristopher Schicker, Sunnie, Layla, Preslee, and Rowen Taapken, and Aidan and Paisley Sirtout; and great-grandchildren, Aurora and Alyse Ciota.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, until the time of the Ceremony at 10:45 a.m. at South Tower Church, 1350 S. Tower Rd., Dawson, IL.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
