

James F. Mueller, 90, of Springfield, died at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at St. John's Hospice. Jim was born May 30, 1925 in Belleville, the son of Paul and Rose Fohl Mueller. He married Norma J. Myers on July 19, 1947 in Springfield. After graduating in 1942 from Cathedral High School, Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Returning home, he worked as an independent insurance salesman. He was very proud to have been among the first to travel to Washington, D.C. with the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight. Over the years, his hobbies included bowling, fishing, gardening, cooking, and watching all sports on TV, especially his St. Louis Cardinals. He is best known for being an avid golfer and winner of many awards. Jim was a member of St. Cabrini Catholic Church and KC of Devereaux Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Rita Smith. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Norma J. Mueller of Springfield; five children, Fran (husband, Gerry) Andrews of Las Vegas, NV, Jim (wife, Kathy) Mueller of Chatham, Mike (wife, Karen) Mueller of Rochester, Steve Mueller and Pat Todd, both of Springfield; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul (wife, Judy) Mueller and Bob (wife, Sally) Mueller, all of Springfield. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at St. Cabrini Catholic Church, 1020 N. Milton Ave., Springfield with Rev. Richard Chiola, celebrant. Interment at Camp Butler National Cemetery Columbarium will follow with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
