

James Stanley Shevokas, 86, of Springfield, passed away at 4:25 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at St. Johns Hospital. James was born March 26, 1932 in Springfield, the son of William C. and Mary Alice Marchakaitis Shevokas. He married Elsie I. Packingham on February 19, 2000 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springfield; she preceded him in death on April 19, 2004. James graduated from Lanphier High School in 1950 and proudly served in the United States Army. He worked for the State of Illinois Supreme Court for 25 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed golf and fitness. James was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Shevokas; and six sisters, Bernice Dombroski, Della Wike, Ann Danner, Marie Saputo, Betty Barnes, and Elsie Lennox. He is survived by his four daughters, Jacquie (Bruce) Bryan, Bobbi (Randy) Lykins, Mary Anderson, and Cathy Bredemeyer, all of Springfield; five grandchildren, Todd, Stacey, Jeremy, Katie, and Kyle; three great-grandchildren, Roan, Eddison, and Nash; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 730 S. 12th Street, Springfield, with Rev. Kevin J. Mann, SJC, celebrant.
