He was born in Lincoln on May 28, 1939, to Clarence and Catherine Stumpf.
Jim loved the outdoors. Some of his favorite times were spent with Jeannie on camping and fishing trips. After retiring from U.S. Electric after 41 years, they spent some of their winters in Texas. Together, they took up square dancing and made many memories with friends while traveling in their RV. Jim always had a story to tell about their adventures.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeannie; sister, Clarine Hatfield; sons, Greg (Denise) Stumpf and Gary Ball; daughters, Janet (Brian) Miller and Nancy (Laurie) Knoop; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kurt Stumpf; and granddaughter, Kelsey Stumpf.
His family will host a private graveside service.
