Janelle M. Vincent Dever, 65, of Springfield, died at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center Hospice. Janelle was born on May 24, 1948 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Louis Clay and Mildred Elaine Cates Vincent. She married Donald Dever on May 9, 1987 in Springfield. Janelle was a graduate of Lanphier High School. She was employed for the State of Illinois Department of Public Health and Department of Insurance, retiring after 30 years of service. She loved to read watch old movies, volunteer for veteran's organizations, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alison Novak; and a brother, Richard Vincent. She is survived by her husband, Donald of Springfield; step-mother, Phyllis Vincent of Springfield; siblings, Leigh (husband, Jim) Sonneborn of Springfield, Kathryn Daniels of White Hall, and Charles (wife, Mary) Vincent of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family graveside ceremonies will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
