

Janet Dinges, 74, of Chatham, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Vibra Hospital. She was born January 28, 1939, in Ames, Illinois to the late Arthur and Isabella (Kalmer) Moehrs. Janet was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Reichmann and grand-daughter, Brenna Cannon. Janet graduated from Red Bud High School in 1957 and received a BA in English Literature from Sangamon State University in 1975. She married Rodney Dinges in 1958, and they lived together in Red Bud, IL, Orangeburg, S.C., and Marion, IL, before settling in Chatham in 1974. Janet began working for the State Government in 1975 and retired from Department of Public Aid in 1995. She was an avid gardener and won a community-sponsored contest for Best Vegetable Garden in Chatham in 2012. Janet also enjoyed playing the piano, reading, sewing, crocheting, and researching genealogy. She was committed to the establishment and care of the Moehrs Centennial Farm in Red Bud, IL. Above all, Janet devoted her life to her family, guided by an unyielding spirit of love and generosity. She is survived by: her husband, Rodney Dinges of Chatham, Il.; her children: Connie Cannon of Chatham, Colleen Dinges of Chatham, Catherine (husband Joseph) Iacono of Springfield, Il., and John (wife Harlene) Dinges of Woodbridge, Va.; sister Mary (husband Emil) Reheis of Glendale, Az.; grandchildren: Ellena Rickman (husband Chad), Heather Duncan (husband Russ), Jessica Petro (fianc� Mason), Justin Petro, Ian McMillan, Alexis Cannon, Sean McMillan, Grace Dinges, Shauna Jahanshir, Lexie Iacono, and Dallas Walters; great-granddaughter Chloe Rickman. The funeral ceremony will be held at 4pm, with Fr. Dennis Kollross as celebrant. The funeral will be followed by a visitation where her family will greet friends until 7 pm, Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, IL. Burial will be at Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
