Janet L. Tatum-Phelps, 78, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at 9:14 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at her home. Janet was born on September 7, 1938 in Galesburg, the daughter of Leslie and Charlene Gibson Trulson. She married Delmar Phelps, and he preceded her in death in 1981. She later married Marlin Tatum. Janet graduated from the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired in 1956. She went on to graduate from Illinois State University in 1960. She was a local entrepreneur and businesswoman. Janet loved reading and was a life-long Chicago Cubs Fan, and was fortunate enough to see them win the World Series. Go Cubs Go! Her passion was helping and teaching the visually impaired. Janet was also preceded in death by her parents. She was a beloved wife, mother, and friend. She will be missed by all. Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
