Jan was born in Beardstown, Illinois, September 4, 1927, the daughter of Earl H. and Ida Hoffman.
She graduated from Beardstown High School in 1945. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield and was an active member of Trinity’s Ladies Aid and LWML. She was also a member of the Springfield Garden Club.
Jan worked as a secretary for Central Illinois Public Service (CIPS) in Springfield for 18 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. “Bill” Grant of Springfield, whom she married on April 27, 1963. Together they were blessed with three children: Melinda (Ken) Miller of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Dennis Grant of West Hollywood, California, and Jennifer Grant of San Rafael, California. Jan is also survived by her grandson, Brad (Rozy) McCurley and great grandson, Riley, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, her sister-in-law, Annabel Hoffman, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Carol (Glen) Fricke and three brothers, Dale Hoffman, Myron Hoffman, and Robert (Delores) Hoffman.
A visitation will be held in the Chapel of Concordia Village, 4101 West Iles, Springfield, Illinois, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 10:30 am until the time of a funeral service at 11:30 am with Chaplain Jeff Harter and Rev. Dr. Thomas G. Radtke officiating. Light refreshments will be in the Harmony Room adjacent to the chapel .
A private graveside service will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, following the service.
