Janice E. Stromberg

Janice Eve Stromberg, 73, of Springfield, died at 3:33 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at St. Marys Hospital in Decatur. Janice was born August 3, 1944 in Oak Park, IL, the daughter of Arthur T. and Catherine M. Leake Freimuth. She married Robert J. Stromberg, Jr. on May 7, 1966 in Downers Grove, IL. Janice was employed as a CNA. She had a strong passion for taking care of others and she went above and beyond in their care. She also volunteered at a womens shelter while in Missouri and later in hospice care in Florida. Janice was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and fishing. She loved attending and volunteering at her childrens schools and spending precious time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Judith L. Gibson and Jeanne L. Valzonis. She is survived by her husband, Robert Stromberg, Jr. of Springfield; children, Christine M. (husband, Daniel) Correa of McKinney, TX; James A. (wife, Jane) Stromberg of St. Louis, MO; and Catherine M. Stromberg of Springfield; six grandchildren, Henry, Jack, Lindsey, Morgan, Gus, and Will; three nieces, Tracy, Cheryl, and Joanne; and nephew, Garrett. Funeral Ceremony and Visitation: 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Family will receive friends immediately following ceremonies until 5:00 p.m. Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
