

Janine was born on April 3, 1955, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Zada Marie Killdoo. She married Terry Nydegger on October 2, 2004, in Springfield.
Janine graduated from Lanphier High School, earned her LPN and RN degrees from Lincoln Land Community college, and later went on to earn her BSN from St. Francis College in Joliet. She was a registered nurse with Memorial Medical Center for over 35 years in the emergency room achieving the role as Illinois Trauma Nurse Coordinator. Janine’s dedication to the nursing profession continued as a flight nurse. She also enjoyed teaching as an instructor for EMS, ACLS, and BLS. Later in her career, she worked as a PACU nurse and after retirement she continued serving as a telehealth nurse for Springfield Clinic. Janine volunteered on the dive team for the Sangamon County Rescue Squad and as a medical resource for car races at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
Janine was an accomplished breeder of Maine Coon cats earning many awards over the years. She was also an expert bargain hunter at Big Lots, Walmart, and eBay.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ida Mae Ray and her beloved mother, Zada.
Janine is survived by her husband, Terry of Springfield; daughters, Jacqueline Russell of Longboat Key, FL and Jessica Russell (Kevin Beard) of Springfield; grandchildren, Jake (Kayla) Garrett and Jayceline Russell; sister, Catherine “Cathy” Walker of Springfield; and one nephew.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2022, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
