Jean L. Dixon

She was born May 27, 1921 in Decatur, the daughter of Chester and Mae Lockbaum, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul. She married Melvin L. Dixon on March 29, 1942 in Palmyra, MO.

Mrs. Dixon was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lake Press Club and a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Ladie Elks 158 and Woodside United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin; two daughters, Judy Shudrowitz of Springfield and Linda Cole of Ann Arbor, MI; four grandchildren, Gina Meurer and Todd Shudrowitz both of Springfield, Christy Slade and Tom Cole both of Ann Arbor; five great grandchildren, Andrew, Maddie and Samantha Slade of Ann Arbor, and Jacob and Leah Meurer of Springfield.

Visitation will be from 11 am until the funeral service at 12pm on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jim Poole of Woodside United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
