
Jean Scully, 74, of Springfield, died at 12:42 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at her residence. Jean was born on August 13, 1932 in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Albert and Lillian Scheckler. She married Michael John Scully on December 29, 1955 in Racine, Wisconsin. Jean graduated from Colby College and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. She and her husband ran an organic farm in Buffalo, Illinois until 1984, at which point they joined the Springfield community. Jean was a wonderful artist, a consummate gardener, a marvelous cook and a proficient pianist. She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Springfield, a volunteer teacher at Springfield Art Association, and a diligent worker for local charities including Progress Circle and Kings Daughters Home. She is survived by her husband Michael John Scully of Springfield; her mother Mrs. Albert Scheckler of Racine, Wisconsin and Woodstock, Vermont; her sons Thomas Peter Scully of Springfield, Michael James (wife, Nanchen) Scully of Reading, Vermont, John Frederick (wife, Tammy) Scully of Springfield; her daughter Paula Alyce Scully of New York, New York and seven grandchildren. Cremation accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007 at Christ Episcopal Church, 611 East Jackson St., Springfield, with Rev. Dr. Gregory A. Tournoux. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor’s choice. The family of Jean Scully is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
