He was a remarkable man with a compassionate spirit, generous heart and quick sense of humor that will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We are heartbroken that he is gone and take comfort knowing that now he is in the arms of the angels.
Jeff was born on January 14, 1970 in Alamogordo, NM. and grew up in Jacksonville, IL. The youngest child in a family with four sisters, Jeff had an outgoing, funny, positive nature that shaped his later career as a popular radio DJ in the Springfield area. Jeff loved music from an early age and played the guitar in several bands over the years. He was also a talented cook who enjoyed preparing family recipes passed down from his mother. He always had kind words of encouragement for others and was happy to be of service whenever needed. He was a tremendous support and best friend to his father and the Mastiff dogs he lived with. In his spare time, Jeff enjoyed fishing, listening to music, gardening, cooking and staying in touch with family and friends.
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother Etta Marlene “Lee” Fredericks and by his nephew, Phillip Baker. He is survived by his children, Ashliegh Fredericks, Nicholas Fredericks, Haliegh Fredericks and Sy Fitzgerald; his five grandchildren; his father, Raymond Fredericks; sisters, Vicky (John) Pierce, Lisa (Greg) Baker, Sharon (John) Dearing and Beth (Timmy) Moss; ten nieces and nephews; and two cousins.
