Jeffrey "Jeff" J. Magill

He was born on July 17, 1945 in Springfield, the son of Robert and Helen (Roy) Magill. He married Anne Cavanagh on September 9, 1967 at St. Agnes Catholic Church.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Anne Magill of Springfield; five children, Patrick (Kendra) Magill of Alpharetta, GA, Elizabeth Magill of Springfield, Margaret (Scott) Capper of St. Charles, IL, Timothy Magill of Springfield, and Daniel Magill of Springfield; 10 grandchildren, Hayden, E.J., Branden, Collin, Caitlin, Keeley, Andrew, Kristin, Fiona, and Charlotte; six siblings, Mike (Barbara) Magill of Freeburg, Jim (Beth Collins) Magill of Winter Park, CO, Tom (Elyse) Magill of Riverwoods, IL, Molly (Jeff) Fortuna of Louisville, CO, Liz Magill of Denver, CO, and Kate (Terry) Hutchinson of Lakewood, CO; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Robert W. Magill; his parents; and his brother, Mark Magill.

Jeff was a graduate of Griffin High School and SIU-Carbondale. He worked as a Real Estate Broker for more than 20 years in Belleville. After moving back to Springfield, he worked for the IL State Fire Marshall’s Office until the time of his retirement. Jeff was a member of the National Association of Realtors, a Republican Precinct Committeeman, served on the Lincoln Library board, the Women’s Crisis Shelter board in Belleville, and volunteered his time to numerous charitable organizations throughout his life. Jeff was always kind and generous, never turning down a person in need; however, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home—Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield.

Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home—Springfield with the Very Rev. Daniel J. Bergbower, V.F. officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
