He was born on March 18, 1948, in Davenport, IA, the son of Dale and Margaret (Turner) Pirmann. Jeff met his wife, Barbara Colby at Lincoln High School and they began dating in 1967. He married Barbara, daughter of Arthur and Louise Colby, on June 21, 1970; and she survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Emily Winters and his son-in-law, Tyler Winters; his son, Tim Pirmann; granddaughter, Adilee Louise; grandson, Nolan Tyler; brothers, Pete (Becky), John (Tammy), and Joel (Jennifer); and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jeff served in the United States Army from 1968 – 1971, including a tour in Vietnam. He then graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Accounting. Jeff later earned his master’s degree from Sangamon State University. He worked in insurance as an accountant for over 30 years.
Jeff was a member of Good Shepherd Church in Rochester, IL for over 30 years, where he made wonderful friendships, served as an usher, elder, taught the high school Sunday school class, and helped with Bible school. In 2013, Jeff and Barbara became disciples of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. He became active in several church ministries including the blood drive, taking communion to members, and the annual golf outing for charity.
Jeff loved to read, play golf, and being outside. His granddaughter will miss his silly jokes and his grandson will miss playing golf with his PaPa. They will also miss the annual pumpkin hunt that their PaPa carefully planned each year. His family will miss his smile, his stories, our family trips, and his love.
Cremation was provided prior to the ceremonies.
The family will host a Memorial Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2477 W. Washington St., Springfield.
