Joan E. Southwick

Joan was born on August 27, 1931 in Chatham, the daughter of Ellis and Geraldine Otti Sheppard. She married Robert “Bob” Clark Southwick in September of 1954; he preceded her in death.

Joan enjoyed volunteering at the Chatham Library. She was an avid gardener and had an interest in sewing and genealogical research.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Scott Southwick; infant daughter, Sue Marie Southwick; her parents; and brother, Jerry Sheppard.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Andrew “Andy” (companion, Angie Sutton) Southwick and Kent Southwick, both of Springfield; and four grandchildren, Ann, Stephen, Kyle and Ashley Southwick.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering and Memorial Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham. A Memorial Ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Chatham Memorial Cemetery. Illinois COVID-19 guidance will be followed, requiring face coverings and limiting attendance to 10 guests at one time.
