Joann was born in Kankakee, November 14, 1938 the daughter of Anthony and Eleanor (Hoffman) Rolando. She married Kay William Maas, November 11, 1962 and he preceded her in death in 1995.
Joann was a faithful member of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church. She loved her church and was a devoted member of the United Methodist Women. Earlier in her life, while living in Kankakee, she volunteered with the American Red Cross and selflessly served others during crisis and missions of disaster.
This commitment she passed on to her children and they began to serve alongside her as they became able. She continued to serve her community as a volunteer with the Catholic Charities as well. Always giving back to those in need.
She worked for the Greene County Cable Company where she served as a customer service representative.
Joann is survived by her three children: Michelle (husband Paul) Lucak of Willowbrook, IL, William “Bill” Maas (husband Charles “Chuck” Mizeur) of Springfield, IL and Christopher “Chris” (fiancé Alicia Obernuefemann) of Collinsville, IL. She has five grandchildren: Candice, Stephanie, Brittany, and Bradley Lucak and Jordan Brawand. Also surviving are her brother, David (Melba Sue, deceased) Rolando of Spring TX and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation Rites are accorded by the Bisch Crematory.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering at Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church 501 S. Douglas Ave. Springfield, IL 62704 from 9:00 am until 9:45 am Monday, July 11, 2022. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 am in the church with Rev. Meredith Manning Brown officiating. Inurnment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL at 2:30 pm Monday, July 11, 2022.
