John Joseph Cleeton, 67, of Springfield, died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2003 at St. John’s Hospital. John was born September 1, 1936 in Litchfield, the son of Lavern Joseph and Mary Christine Lange Cleeton. He married Mary Evelyn Shettles March 4, 1971 in Springfield. He was previously employed as a construction worker. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife: Mary E. of Springfield; one son: Tim (wife, Jeanie) Cleeton of Springfield; two daughters: Michelle Ann Maynard of Charleston, SC, Martha (husband, Ken) Watson of Petersburg; four grandchildren: Lacy Jo and Brent M. Cleeton both of Springfield, Michael Maynard of Charleston, SC and John Parker Watson of Petersburg; one sister: Viola Cleeton of Springfield and one niece: Nicolette Pawalczak of Springfield. Remains were cremated. No services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Central Illinois, 610 N. 7th St., Springfield, IL 62702-5329.
