John G. Conway, 77, of Springfield, passed away at 7:35 a.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at his residence. John was born January 5, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Gilbert and Margaret McBarron Conway. John was a foster parent for 20 years and was employed as an alcohol and drug therapist for both the Ryerson Court and Triangle Center and Department of Corrections. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his companion, Wanda Herring of Springfield; his son, Darrell L. Conway of Springfield; one daughter, Lisa (husband, Raymond) Luebbert of Springfield; two sisters, JoAnne Maisonet of White Springs, FL and Ann (husband, Edward) Hopke of Acton, MA; one brother, Richard (wife, Sandy) Conway of Mt. Dora, FL; and two nieces, Mary Grace and Leanne Jo Herring of Springfield; Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Graveside Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5063 Camp Butler Rd., Springfield with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
