John Curtis "Jake" Meinhardt

Jake was a lifelong resident of Springfield, relocating to St. Charles, MO, in 2017 before returning in 2020.

He was a 2011 graduate of Sacred Heart Griffin High School and a member of the swim team there.

He loved his family and many friends, especially his close friends Caleb and Taylor Fairfield and his many gaming buddies. Jake loved all games, movies, music and animals. He played soccer and baseball as a kid and was a huge fan of the St. Louis Blues.

Jake is survived by his parents; a sister, Molly Meinhardt, DC, of Asheville, NC. His stepmother, Ann Hambelton Meinhardt; and stepsiblings, John (Becky) Hambelton and Leanne Hambelton (Eric) Dolan; his grandmother, Jimmie Meinhardt of St. Louis; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Meinhardt, of St. Louis, MO; and grandparents, Dan and Peg Dwyer.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home – Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a short service following at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Sacred Heart Griffin High School, The Animal Protective League of Springfield or a charity of your choice.
