

John was born on December 20, 1950 in Springfield, the son of Comley and Juanita Tendick Evans. He married Rita Ann Roth on July 10, 1971 at St. Benedict’s Church in Auburn.
John was a 1968 graduate of Glenwood High School. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps in the Vietnam War. John was the owner and operator of Evans Consulting Services. He previously retired from the State of Illinois. He was a lifelong member of the TRN Club, NRA, and ATA (Amateur Trapshooting Association). John was instrumental in the building of the World Shooting Complex in Sparta, IL. He enjoyed trapshooting, fishing, and vacations with family. John was an avid Chicago Bears fan and he always seemed to be tinkering with various things. He was a devoted husband and father who was always there for his family. His love and support will be greatly missed.
John was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia Leah Braden.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Evans of Glenarm; one daughter, Amber Leah Evans of Glenarm; one son, J.D. (wife, Amy) Evans of Springfield; one brother, Richard “Rusty” (wife, Sylvia) Evans of Centerville, OH; sister-in-law, Joyce (husband, Tom) Brooks of Chatham; brother-in-law, William (wife, Janet) Roth of Liberty Township, OH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Butler Funeral Home—Chatham, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham.
Memorial Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Prairie View Reception Center, 8865 State Rt. 4, Chatham with Fr. John Nolan officiating.
