John Fehring

John Fehring, 90, of Springfield, died on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Regency Care Center. John was born on July 17, 1926 in Springfield, the son of John C. and Lottie Smoka Fehring. He married Mary Jo Cottrill in 1979 in Springfield; she preceded him in death on February 26, 2014. John was employed as a blacksmith at Fehring Iron Works, retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during WWII, and was a member of Iron Workers Local 518 (St. Louis) and VFW Post 10302. John was also a member of Kumler United Methodist Church. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Fehring; sisters, Mary and Helen Fehring; and four brothers, Louis, George, Henry and William Fehring. John is survived by his step-children, Robert Stephen Boastick, Danny (Janet) Boastick, Tommy (Kathy) Boastick and Scott (Melissa) Boastick, all of Springfield, IL; four step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:15 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Tony Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Family requests casual dress.
