John Michael Gonterman

John Michael Gonterman, 16, of Springfield, passed away at 3:38 a.m. Thursday, September 5, 2002 at St. John’s Hospital. John was born October 26, 1985 the son of Rick and Mary Kay Palusinski Gonterman in Springfield. John was a junior at Sacred Heart Griffin High School where he was on the high honor roll and played varsity football. He was inducted into the Who’s Who Among American High School Students for his high academic achievement. He played 8th grade basketball at Blessed Sacrament when they won the class A basketball tournament. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He is survived by his parents: Rick and Mary Kay Gonterman of Springfield; a sister: Kristen Gonterman at home; grandfather; Willis Gonterman of Springfield; uncle: Gary (wife, Carol)Gonterman of Edgewater, Florida; aunt: Jill (husband, Frank) Daigh of Springfield and several cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home from 3-7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2002. Visitation will begin with a wake service at 3:00 p.m.. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church w the Very Reverend Kevin Vann principal celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
