John ''Jack'' Hoffman Hall Sr., 88, of Springfield died at 4:10 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2001 at St. John's Hospital ER. He was born January 19, 1913 in Patterson, New Jersey. He married Joan Ruuttila in 1986 at there residence. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Thoma in 1984; a brother, William Hall; and a sister, Catherine Hill. Mr. Hall recieved a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Rolla School of Mining and Engineering in Rolla, MO, He went to work for Fiat Allis as a engineer until his retirment. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a long time member of Island Bay Yacht Club. Surviving are his wife, Joan Hall of Springfield, a son, John H. (wife, Alverna) Hall Jr. of Springfield, two step sons, Eric Ruuttila of Jacksonville, Eero (wife, Liana) Ruuttila of Litchfield, Mass, a step daughter, Kim Eck of Springfield and a Son-in-law, Steven K. Thoma of Springfield. Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Kevin Vann officiating.
