John was born in Litchfield, IL on March 13, 1946, the son of Alexander E. and Dorothy R. (Meier) Lawson. His parents, his brother David Lawson and Sister, Sandra Sue Lawson, preceded him in death.
John earned his master’s degree in administration and served as a teacher, coach and, at the time of his retirement, he was an administrator with Springfield School District 186. He was loved by many, and his impact will be felt for lifetimes to come.
John had a quiet, caring demeanor and a tenacity that was admired. This was evident in his classroom, his coaching career and most prevalent in his care for his sister Sandra. He was always the first to offer a listening ear, and his life advice was practical and filled with reminders of the importance of finding peace in big and small moments. He was a devoted member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for several years. John will be missed by his family, colleagues and friends.
Surviving are his niece, Samantha (husband Branden) Burke of Indianapolis, IN, his nephew Jeffrey Lawson and a great niece, Elizabeth (Libbie) Lawson.
Arrangements are in the care of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E.
